St Patrick's Day Easter Wreath

Having Easter in March use to really put a bee in my bonnet for decorating for holidays, but this year I fully embraced it, since I didn't have an Easter wreath I liked so it was a great opportunity. 

Best part of this is, I have far too much fabric stored so the wreath was FREE to make.

Then we decided to put our house on the market, so I had to take my wreath down... :(

Can't go a year without making stockings

I apparently can't make it through the year without making stockings. I didn't want to repeat my Christmas wreath from last year. Plus I just really wanted a gray polka dot and red stocking. (I think my door looks funny with an evergreen wreath since there is only dead vegetation near my front porch.)

I love these skinny stockings. I wish this picture wasn't crooked. 

Pottery Barn Not Quite Knock Off

Turns out I never posted my wreath from last year. Postpartum depression is a ------. One day I actually hope to knock off the original. But this wasn't the year.

So here is the post I never posted.

I was sick of my holiday wreath last December. I decided to make something more rustic to go with my drought-ridden dry winter climate. 

My inspiration was this picture from a Pottery Barn catalog. I absolutely love those wreaths. But didn't want to buy new holiday bobbles, I only had one size so I had to improvise.

Burlap Bunny and Wreaths

I wanted a new Easter wreath this year. After scouring Pinterest and not really find anything I liked I came up with this. My 6 year old daughter doesn't really like it but tried to be nice. 

I've been trying to come up with this wreath for a week or so, then a few nights ago I decided I would make a burlap bunny but didn't know how to do that so a google search took me to this site. The wreath came together really fast. I only wish the bunny had bigger ears.
Best part of the project, it was free to make, the burlap was all left over from old projects.

Speaking of wreaths I reassembled my foam wreath from the last two years. I decided to keep with the gray wreath. The bow is wonky but so is my life.

I love how much more vintage it feels. The green was loud, I'm too tired for loud right now. I got the printable from here.

Speaking of printables, I also found this Hosanna one that I LOVE. Can you even see it in this picture?

 And to finish my Easter bloggy tour of my living room, here is my bunting from last year. I know I know my husband already told me the piano should be centered but my children like to look out the window.

 Did you know I rearranged my living room yet again? The black chairs are back next to each other.

Frozen Party

I know there are a million frozen party ideas online, but this is what we did. None of which was original. I have lots of snowflake crafts so it was easy to just slightly change. This was a temporary change. With this printable.

 I printed Elsa on paper, and melted Jolly Ranchers. I don't think any of the kids ate the cake just pieces of jolly ranchers.

 For some reason I made a 6 year old two wreaths, that one in the background too.

 I made the pinata for her. She loved it. Turns out I made it too sturdy. Don't use packing tape, masking tape probably would have been better.

St. Patrick's Day Foam Wreath

I didn't like my March wreath last year. So I started from scratch this year. After a couple of attempts I ended up with this.

After looking at my pinterest board for inspiration, I realized I really like striped, black white and green accent. 

1. I tried to pick up some black and white ribbon but all Walmart had was one spool of black and white chevron. Turns out, 9 yards of ribbon only covers a third of foam wreath.
2. I was born at the perfect time to be obsessed with beanie babies, and as an adult I've seen gotten rid of them all, except for my Irish Bear from McDonalds, its named Erin and so I have an affinity for it since that's my middle name. (And my Canadian on from McDonalds.) So I know having a teddy bear in a wreath is only fit for crazy cat ladies, but I still went for it. I have only two other St. Patrick's Day decorations ups and one says LUCKY in three inch letters so I decided I didn't need every room to say Lucky, and what else is Pinterest good for other than mincing others ideas.

New Thanksgiving Wreath

Remember, I wanted a new wreath, so I went down to Michael's used a 40% coupon and bought myself a new grapevine wreath for $3.
Overall I was quite disappointed in the trip, because of veterans day I had ALL my children with me. I also had a 25% of my entire purchase, so I bought a few things I didn't need today, but I would in the future. The cashier rang it up wrong. It seemed wrong when I paid for it but I was trying to make sure I didn't lose any children especially my two year old. I looked at it in the car. She rang it up wrong, she took 25% off one item. Since I was in the back of the parking lot and nap time was looming, it didn't seem worth it to go get my $2.50. You hear that @Michael's your cashiers struggle with the 25% off the entire purchase, this is not the first time it has happened to me.
Anyway, back to my wreath.

 The white paint on the wreath will look a lot better in a month when its been weathered outside.
The felt leaves have stitching on them, but you can't really see.

Since I used left over felt and ribbon, the total cost was $3. Wahoo.
I'm going to take off the leaves in a few weeks and Christmasized it. Its time for a new christmas wreath, my other one is four years old, which is eternity in craft years. Actually I'm not sure, I'm considering changing my old one. Only time will tell.

Thanksgiving Heart

I needed a different thanksgiving wreath for my wine rack this year. I had no interest in recreating last year's. 

I decided to use my heart shape foam wreath. I covered it in burlap and tulle like last year. I made my sign from copying an old pin on pinterest. I'm so unoriginal, I'm pretty sure that is what pinterest is all about copying other people's crafts.
I took some leaves off this wreath. Three years ago when I made that wreath I was so obsessed, but now its on my front door and I'm so done with it. I'm considering making a new wreath and throwing away that one. There is only 16 days until thanksgiving I'm not sure its worth it to make a new one.

Spooky

I never spend money on my Halloween wreath because I'm spending money on costumes, and I always hate my Halloween wine rack wreath. So this year I decided to do what it takes to like it. I didn't spend any money, I had the crow from last year. But I used fabric I actually liked, it was hard to use fabric I liked without buying a new piece at the store, but I decided there is no reason to hoard my fabric. I'm quite happy with how it turned out.

I decided to tie the raven on like it was tied up from a witch for something.

My Birthday

September doesn't really have a holiday to decorate for, so I always decorate for my birthday. I decided I wanted a different birthday wreath this year, the last one's kitschy vibe was rubbing me the wrong way after all the birthday's we've celebrated. (Part of me loves the old one, but I just wanted a modern one this year.) I printed the bunting from this site. Ignore the fact that I connected the R incorrectly. I guess I could fix it...

 Ok, I love the candle! I used a coffee stirrer, and covered it with baker's twine. Plus the flame, it makes me smile. Happy Birthday me.

Back to School Wreath

The Friday before school started, life was beyond chaotic, my house was a mess, there probably was a baby crying, but I came up with a wreath idea and wanted to make it before school started. So I did. And guess what when I finished the house was still a mess, a baby was probably sleeping, everyone else was coloring with crayons. 

Since I used the same polka dots from father's day, the wreath was quite easy. I took a pin and poked holes through the crayons at the same point, and then took fishing line and beads to make my crayon bunting. It was very easy. All the kids wanted to help, no one was allowed, I worked at the bar while everyone else had to color at the table. I'm mean like that.

Its so cheery and jaunty. I looking at it.

Spring Wreath

I know to the rest of you it is summertime, but it was snowing here two weeks ago, so to me its only springtime. And in honor of spring, I wanted a new wreath for my front door. One with lots of colors.  So I made this a few weeks ago.

My fabric flowers are suppose to be little purple pansies, because I love purple pansies.  And then I threw in a daisy for good measure, because my daughter always wants to grow daisies.  Can you believe I can't find daisy seeds a the store? I do love daises too.  Just like Meg Ryan says in You've Got Mail.  Don't know what she says?  You should watch it, its an hysterical movie, I got it from my library a few months ago, and my husband also laugh through most of it.
Its a pretty cheery wreath, but in a way it feels like something is missing without bunting or an H.

A Wreath I Don't Need

I made this wreath.  I saw it two or three times of pinterest during the holidays, and totally fell in love with it.  I thought it was adorable, but I really have no place for another wreath.  

 Then when I re-did my january wreath, I found myself with an extra wreath form, and since I already had 3 yards of this burlap furniture tape stuff, I made the wreath, because how could I resist.

The other night I added these felt love birds I made last valentine's.  They match perfect with wreath.

Door Hangers

My 7 and 5 year old really love things on their bedroom door, to indicate it is their room. When we moved around bedroom roommates, the toddler is now with the 5 year old, because the baby will be with the 8 year old.  (His birthday is coming, I guess both of their birthdays.)  I made new door hangers, but mostly because the old ones were wooden and made too much noise, making me crazy.  

 The embroidery isn't original designs, I saw them on pinterest, which probably came from etsy. They were on hoops not quilt squares though.  There is something about me in my third trimester that is drawn to making children's bedroom decor from unfinished quilt squares.  (Check out a year and half ago. Here and here.)

I love them, because they are silent, and each kid has their own.  But overall I ended up hating this project.  I had to will myself to finish.  I'm having the hardest time naming this baby, so his square doesn't have a name. 

Speaking of names, last night my oldest suggested Elvis Lee.  Kind of catchy actually, but I'm not using it.

Winter Wreath

Well Christmas is over, and so now its time to get ready for the next celebration, my anniversary.  Ok, its not much of a celebration for my husband and I.  But I do switch from my christmas wreath to a winter wreath. (Next year I think my christmas wreath needs a update, after three years its looking sad.) Snowflakes was a theme of our wedding, so last year I made this wreath, to carry us in-between Christmas to valentines. But the wreath was all wrong. Its for a place covered in snow, and the snow here when it does come melts quickly, because its so sunny and dry.  I saw this wreath and this wreath on pinterest and came up with this new wreath by taking apart two wreaths.  So it was FREE!

I really like the the rosettes on the snowflakes. (Which was not my idea but came from one of the pinterest wreaths.)

 Since I had a white bouquet of roses for my wedding, and then the snowflake theme.

Another burlap wreath

The morning after Halloween I was ready to purge/ clean. I wanted all the costumes packed, all the leaves tracked in from trick or treating gone. Apparently I got a little ambitious. By lunch all the Halloween specific decorations were gone and leaving only fall decor in which the pilgrims and Indians were added to. Turns out I was down a wreath. I hung my fall wreath from last year outside and made a new one for my wine rack.

I used burlap ribbon with ivory tulle ribbon to soften the burlap a tad. Then  I wanted it easy so I used my old school sizzix to cut out mini felt leaves. I wish I had dies with larger leaves but I do like the mini aspect. I also decides I wanted a mum garden on my wreath since in effort to save money this year I didn't buy fall flowers for my planter pots outside. 

Of course I found thanksgiving subway art to match. 

Lastly I made mini felt leave garland for my back door valance. 

I was finished with my new decorations by Friday evening it was great.  

Raven Wreath

After spending too much time on Pinterest I decided my wine rack Halloween wreath needed to include a raven.

 And other than the black bird that cost $3, I didn't want to spend any money. This is what I came up with. There were lots of words I could have added for bunting, but I just couldn't shake never more. So it became an Edger Allen Poe wreath. Then I needed Halloween colored flowers. 

Not my favorite wreath of all time but it fit the requirements. Free other than black bird and a raven. 

Back to school

I should have posted this about a month ago. Of course I needed August decorations so I made a back to school wreath and bunting.

 I kind of hate the color I used for my letters, other than that I was pleased. 

For some reason green and yellow are back to school colors. Now a close up

Of course I made a new wreath for June. A Father's Day wreath! At first I didn't want ties because the are cliche but then I decided they were universal. Plus my tie bunting turned out so cute. 

It of course matched with my Father's Day subway art that I got here.
