Patriotic Bunting

I realized this post is a little late! 

Here is my bunting for the Fourth of July. 

Here is the whole shot. 

The key with this project was, free and easy. I used fabric I already had, I found red baby ric rac in the closet, so I used that as my string. Baby ric rac was not my first choice, but I had nothing else that remotely matched. I cut out my circles, folded them into half circles, and sewed on the ric rac. Yes you heard that, I did not sew my half circles shut, it didn't seem worth my effort.

Here's a during shot, to break up the metonymy of posts. I mean really I sewed one red line and was done. No ironing or nothing. 

 

The ric rac turned out alright and it's wasn't as hard to sew as I thought it would be. 

Patriotic Pillow

I needed a pillow for the Fourth of July. It was super easy to make.  I used fusible bond.

Wooden Firecrackers

On pinterest I saw craft firecrackers, and knew I wanted to make some.  This is what I came up with.

Turned out to be a great year to make wooden firecrackers since we won't be seeing any real ones lit with the forest fires the way they are, out here in the west. 
I wanted my Independence day crafts to be about the "true meaning of the holiday" that is why I wrote freedom, independence, justice and liberty on them.
Also I have no vinyl die cutter, so I free handed my letters because I'm old school like that.
I also really wanted to make this wreath, but I ran out of time. :(
I would have put it indoor.  I've realized there are indoor and outdoor wreaths.

Before it is Unseasonal

 For the large third of July BBQ we had at my grandma's house, my son and I made Jello flags, with strawberries, blueberries and cool whip.  He had been asking to make these since anyone who gets a magazine for families, children, mothers, women anything has probably seen this design advertised. 

Our of course our jello flags don't look perfect, but at least my kid does (sort of minus the bruised face, messy hair, and dirty shirt). Isn't he cute? My son almost did the whole flag design himself, I helped a little bit with when to start and stop, but he filled it in himself.

Don't believe me, he later showed me this, he made sure to find a white floor to built it on. 

I'm sure my sister in law is grateful for a cameo on my craft blog.  J was pretty disappointed that both things of jello were eaten so when  my sister in law asked me to bring a dessert on the 5th to her house, I quickly made a box cake and repeated the design this time with raspberries, I like the raspberry look better.

In the words of my brother I got a lot of millage out of this design.
