My Present

Sometimes you gotta make yourself a present. I made this wreath, price once again free. Thankfully I have a million packs of old hem tape. Used the wreath form from last month. Same style as last wreath different execution. I used lots of pictures of me with my kids, and printed them out in thumbnail size. I used three fabric rosettes, because I have three kids. My wreath matches with my printable.

Some may wonder why in the world do I make so many wreaths?  Well I really like having a wreath over my wine rack, since I don't drink its just dead space.  But I see that wreath every time I eat dinner and half the times I eat breakfast.  So I'm ready for a new one every month.  I stare at it everyday.

Grammy's Wreath

I saw this wreath on pinterest, and decided I was in love with it, so I made my own version for my mom.  It a foam wreath covered in batting and then in ivory tulle. I love how it turned out it has that trendy vintage feel to me.  I cut out the pictures to look like old time pictures.  Or at least tried. I used this printable for the bunting letters.

Mother's Day Printable

Honestly as of last month I didn't like any mother's day subway art.  What was I suppose to do?  I made my own.  I found my background at this site.  I love melstampz's flickr, I use her pages all the time.
The LDS Primary Song, I Often Go Walking, is one of my Primary favorite songs, so that's where the words came from.

Spring Butterfly Wreath

Since I took down my Easter things, it was time for a new wreath on my wine rack. (I tried just removing the chocolate ceramic bunny, but it was all wrong.)
I wrapped ivory tulle around a gray yarn covered wreath form. Then made the felt flowers and butterflies.
I have two gray yarn covered wreath forms that I use over and over, or this hobby would be quite expense. I just pin my flowers or other decorations on. When I change decorations, I put all the old ones in baggy just in case I want the wreath again next year. So much easier to store than a million wreath forms. I spent $2 on felt and tulle and have more left over than I used. $2 is the perfect price, hardly breaks the budget.

And my butterfly inspiration here.  I cut out one using the template, and it was very challenging. While dreading another one, I remembered I had a butterfly die for my sizzix. That's the reason I keep the sizzix, I like the option of cutting out felt.
It kind of reminds me of a prom dress with the colors, the tulle and the beads I sewed on the wreath.

Plus it matches with my printable for this month, I didn't really find any subway art that I liked.

Different Bunting

My husband agreed, my bunting was all wrong on my wreath. So I whipped up some more. The bunting was very easy to make, so it was worth my 30 minutes. I hand embroidered the numbers.

Obsessed

Today I decided I was finally bored of my easter decor. But just for the record, Easter the second Sunday in April, is my ideal. I took down the peeps banner, and then my window looked so boring. I thought about making some sort of valance but instead I made more bunting. So yes, I am a little obsessed with bunting. I can't help it, I love it so. I made it match with the wall to keep it understated, but still giving my wall a little somethin' somethin'. I tell everyone in my family individually they are my favorite. And in the moment I mean it, they really are my favorite.

By the way, I love crafts that are free and can be done within one or two tv episodes. I used card stock and handme down lace hem tape.

Wreath Redo

I've gotten a lot of mileage with this wreath. I'm on my third redo of it. I removed the monogram because the paper had faded. Turns out a bird had built a nest behind it. This redo I added the bunting, because I'm obsessed. Although now I'm think its not very spring looking. I'm also thinking I don't like my font I used for the bunting. Any thoughts?

Baby Girls

I know two girls that are about to have baby girls. So of course I made blankets and burp clothes. Then I made cards with the fabric scraps.

Mustached Tooth Fairy Pillow

Remember the preview the other day.  Well I finished it the next day, and now I'm posting.  I love it so much.  The felt tooth is double sided with two pieces of felt, so there is no exposed stitches from my embroidery.  My seven year old still hasn't lost any teeth so the pillow is plenty in time. (Sad day for him, both of his parents lost teeth later than average, plus he didn't get any baby teeth until he was 14 months old, so he'll loose teeth even later than his parents.)

Fits a mini card, with money.

Stay tune, of course my daughter wants a girly one.  Even though she probably has another two years before she loses any teeth.  I'm sure she'll be late too, but not as late, because she grew teeth a good 5 months before her brother.

Love Pillow

I'm slightly pillow obsessed right now.  I wanted a throw pillow for my bed, so here is what I did.
I of course embroidered the pillow, and the fabric rosette I hand sewed instead of glue gunned.

Copy Cat Easter Crafts

I found these crafts online, and copied them thinking my kids would like them.

I made this wreath from my cardboard circle.

Originally I used a foam insulator pipe.  Epic Fail! Pinterest Fail. The foam doesn't hold its shape.  I spent a lot of time and energy making the foam insulator a perfect circle, and then with in a week of sitting in my closet all wreathed up, it ended up like this, so I pulled it apart and used cardboard instead.

Pink cookies

I tried to make pink cookies for a baby shower i went to. I read online, to add your food dye with your wet ingredients before you add your dry ingredients. Sounded easy. Before I started I knew it would be a fail, because I use butter flavored crisco, which is yellow. Pink and yellow from beta carotene, do not make pink. I thought about using normal crisco, but I didn't want to to sacrifice flavor for pink cookies. As a result they looked like cookies that went to the tanning salon.
I also wasn't too happy with the cookies, they were dry. I added about a half of cup more flour to give them more volume. I figured if I was experimenting, why not try lots of ideas.

Tooth Preview

I made this little guy, while sitting next to my husband as he watched USA vs. Mexico World Cup qualify game. (Apparently it takes a year and a half to qualify for the World Cup. It was a tie.)
I think he is super awesome!
My kid loves mustaches like only a 7 year old boy could find them funny. So I've been waiting to find a mustache craft for him. Other than that I think mustaches being the new put a bird on it is silly. And actual mustaches on men are gross.

Resurrection Eggs

When I was 12 or 13, I made Resurrection Eggs at a church activity.  A few years ago when I demeaned my oldest old enough to understand them, I asked my mom for them. She wanted to keep them, she told me, she use them ever year when grandkids visit.  So I let her keep them, and my made my own set.  Which was actually fine by me, because these are prettier then the ones I made when I was 12.
I painted my egg carton gray so it would look like a normal egg carton.  I borrowed stamps from a friend, and stamped it.  I got the idea from this pin.

Sadly it took me a year to finally gather everything inside the eggs. I printed off this from Sugar Doodle, and just cut them, and rolled them up in the eggs. (I used the second one with the scriptures typed up.)

For whatever reason, Moses raising the brazen serpent is one of my favorite scripture stories.  I put it on the back.  "Look and Live"

And since I don't trust the internet.  I'm pasting what I printed out.

1.  And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.  Matthew 26:39;  (Sacrament Cup)

2.  Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,, And said unto them, what will you give me, and I will deliver him unto you?  And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.  Matthew 26:14-15  This fulfilled the prophecy in Zechariah 11: 12-14 that Jesus would be sold for 30 pieces of silver.  (3 dimes)

3. When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:  And when they had bound him, they led him away and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.  Matthew 27: 1-2;  (knotted twine)

4.  When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person:  see ye to it.  Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.  Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.  Matthew 27: 24-26;  Do we also wash our hands?  (chunk of hand soap)

5.  And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.  And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand:  and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews and they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.  Matthew 27: 28-30  (square of red velvet)  I used felt.
 
6.  And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.  And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.  Matthew 27: 31-32 And He was crucified… nailed to the cross.  (Press this nail into your hand … feel how it must have hurt.)  (toothpick cross, tiny nail) For egg #6, I didn't make a toothpick cross, I just found the biggest nails I could find in the garage that would fit in the egg.  I think the point was made, the nails scared my 4 year old. I did not press into anyone's hand.

7.  And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet… And sitting down they watch him there:  Matthew 27: 35-36   (small pair of dice)

8.   Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.  And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent:. . . Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.  Matthew 27: 50-51 & 54 (tiny bag of crushed rock or potting soil)

9.  Then Joseph, a rich man) went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.  Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.  And when Joseph had taken the body, the wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock.  Matthew 27: 57-60;  (strip of white cloth)

10.  And he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulcher, and departed.  Pilate said unto them (the chief priests and Pharisees), Ye have a watch; go your way, make it as sure as ye can.  So they went, and made the sepulcher sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.  Matthew 27: 60, 65-66;   (a stone)  

11.   And when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary, the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. / And, behold, there was a great earthquake; for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.  And the angel . . . said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.  Mark 16:1, Matthew 28: 2 and 5; (bay leaf, cloves or other herb)

12.  Then the angels said unto the women, “Fear no ye; for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.  He is not here, for he is risen.”  Matthew 28:6; (empty)

Couch Pillows

Remember how I didn't like my last pillow. Well I made new ones.  Everyone just has plain square pillows, with pretty material.  So that was my plan, but then I couldn't do it, instead I put ruffles on one and a bow on the other.  The minute I decided I needed embellishments for my pillows, I knew I needed a bow on one.

They match with the quilt my mom made me.
